This is the old "soldier's home" (soldathem), a place for soldiers to do spend their off-duty time. Originally set up to provide something besides drinking. The new one (a bit farther away) was bought and is currently used by Pingstkyrkan i Strängnäs[a].

At the velocities and energies of armor-piercing projectiles impacting their targets, everything behaves more or less like a liquid, as can be seen here. You'd think it's like metal-against-metal, but it's more like shooting a small birthday cake into a big one.

It took a little while before I realized that the whole building had in effect been removed! The walls here were painted dark brown, and I must have assumed that they were just not visible due to being in the shade. Then I realized I could see straight through.

A sabre that has belonged to Peter the Great[q], who gave it to Prince Croij au Eccaud. The prince was subsequently captured by Magnus Stenbock at the decisive Swedish victory at the Battle of Narva[r] and traded the sabre for being allowed to keep his life. The inscription reads "Als König Carl der Zwölfft und seine kleine Macht // Mit Gott der (Russen Heer) hatt in die Flucht gebracht" or, in English "When King Charles XII and his modest might // with God brought the Russian army to flight".
