Eggeby Gård
Walking across Järvafältet, I came across this old farm in the middle. It is Eggeby Gård[a], one of the old farms that used to be here in Järva. By old, they really mean it - it has ancestry going back to the viking times. What happened with it is roughly this: The military bought the whole Järva field, and basically froze everything in time. No more buildings, no extensions, etc. - after all, they had bought a big field hoping to fill it with hot lead without any farmers getting in the way. But they still needed the facilities the farm supplied, and wanted the field open instead of it turning into woodland again. So the farming continued - but highly regulated; the houses remained and were used to temporarily house military personnel.

Now this is a weird place. There was this shallow well in the middle, surrounded by winged poles, of which one can be seen just above left of center.
