Lay Down a Stone

A manifestation against violence and for a constructive debate over how to best build, not destroy, our home. It was arranged by Förorten i Centrum[a] and the local City Council[b]. Part of the manifestation was an opportunity to take one of the pavement stones that were thrown at police during the riots and paint it.

The process goes like this: First you select something you want to change. Then you pick a color and a symbol that represents the change. Second, you describe how you will affect the change, and pick a color and a symbol representing the means you've chosen. I chose red and a heart to change people's attitudes, and a gray stone bridge to symbolize connecting Husby to the rest of the city and the world. I ended up with a Companion Stone, once I'd painted the hearts and a bridge over them.
