Lay Down a Stone

A manifestation against violence and for a constructive debate over how to best build, not destroy, our home. It was arranged by Förorten i Centrum and the local City Council. Part of the manifestation was an opportunity to take one of the pavement stones that were thrown at police during the riots and paint it.

The process goes like this: First you select something you want to change. Then you pick a color and a symbol that represents the change. Second, you describe how you will affect the change, and pick a color and a symbol representing the means you've chosen. I chose red and a heart to change people's attitudes, and a gray stone bridge to symbolize connecting Husby to the rest of the city and the world. I ended up with a Companion Stone, once I'd painted the hearts and a bridge over them.
