Midsummer should, by all rights, be the Swedish national holiday, instead of June 6. The day when Sweden gained independence from Denmark doesn't really resonate with anyone - but midsummer certainly does. Every year, June 6th usually just passes by - sometimes you note small Swedish flags on the buses, but that's pretty much it. Midsummer, on the other hand, the city is deserted and everyone is out partying.
Move the official national holiday already. It's not like the people of Sweden haven't moved it already in their hearts and minds.
