My plan for the California roadtrip was limited to "go north to Redwood National Park". Like last time, Rob helped with making the trip a success.
But the start of the trip still called for a quick drive up to the northernmost part of California. I had set the first day's goal as reaching San Francisco. Taking the PCH would have taked two days with all its turns, so I settled in for a predictable and boring drive up the I5. Besides some hills as you climb out of Los Angeles, the I-5 is essentially a flat and ruler-straight road that shoots straight up southern California from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
