Sears Tower

Sears Tower[a] was the world's tallest building until the Petronas Towers finally beat it. Although there is some controversy if the Petronas Towers really did beat the Sears Tower (Petronas has a 111 foot spire on each building, which some consider cheating), Dubai is about to come up with an argument[b] in 2008 to settle the score once and for all by making the argument irrelevant. The tower was built when the Sears Roebuck corporation could do nothing wrong and seemed to be on a never-ending upwards path, but has changed owners a number of times since.
