Slussen[a], or "The Lock", as it would be called in English, is a... thing that sits just south of the water lock between the Old Town of Stockholm and Södermalm.

Yes, it is ugly.

Designed for left-lane traffic by horse carriages it has either aged surprisingly well or not died fast enough, depending on who you ask. Wikipedia writes as a comment to the proposal to redevelop Slussen that "a vigorous discussion in the media made it apparent that Slussen was widely considered to be an embarrassment by most residents of Stockholm" and follows that with a [citation needed]. Well, here's your citation, Mr. Wikipedia: It is an embarrassment. The redevelopment of Slussen is one of those issues that have been up for discussion many, many times without anything ever coming out of it.

You see, the structure is inhabited by a killer robot and we don't dare touch it for fear of retribution.

Thankfully the concrete is starting to crumble, meaning that we need not provoke the robot by actively destroying its home.
